Why Building Hope Through Education Matters

by Dr. Sharon Brobst

“Without education, there is no hope for our people and without hope, our future is lost.” – Charles Hamilton, writer, 1876-1961

Throughout the ages, education has been seen as giving hope to the generations. Mostly, this is looking at education as a means of providing greater economic opportunities and building a stronger community that benefits everyone. At ICSV, we have been educating students for the last 35 years. We agree that a high-quality education enables our graduates to pursue higher education or a career of their choice. It is the HOPE of the future, which is a big part of what we do here; but that is not the end of it.

ICSV is also a place where young people experience learning in an atmosphere of love, trust, and respect. Some students come to ICSV who have not enjoyed academic success in other schools. They see ICSV as a place that gives them a second chance. Others come to ICSV because of the varied experiences that they can enjoy, both in and outside the classroom. For all of these students, ICSV gives HOPE to those who desire to learn in a safe environment where they are valued for who they are, as image-bearers of the Almighty God.

Being a school founded on biblical principles, we also believe that education should empower students with truth and knowledge for life. ICSV gives HOPE to students when they learn what that truth is all about. Jesus tells us, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” It is in finding Jesus that students experience that ultimate HOPE of salvation and spending an eternity with the Creator of the universe!

Right now, the size of our facility is limiting the number of students to whom this HOPE can be extended. We have established the Building Hope project to enable ICSV to double its capacity so that HOPE can be shared with twice as many students: HOPE of a bright future, HOPE of being loved and valued, and HOPE of spending eternity with God.

Follow our progress, as we continue to build hope in Vienna and then ultimately build the school facilities that we could only HOPE for!

Because of His faithfulness,
Dr. Sharon Brobst
